Happy Halloween from our Little Ducky!


She found the candy bowl on our way out to trick-or-treat and decided that she wanted to try aTwix.  The verdict - she loved it.  Sometimes I really don't get this kid.  She won't eat cupcakes, cookies or cake, but she wanted candy bars. Maybe she likes the noise that the wrapper makes.  Who knows!?

And this picture was taken after she fell into a bush in front of our house.  We came back from trick or treating (to all of 4 houses), and Caitlin wanted to go outside for a bit.  So, I was sitting on the porch while she was walking/running around out front.   She saw a group of kids coming towards her so she turned to run back and then turned around again, but they were all kind of surrounding her.  She lost her balance and fell backwards into the bush, duck suit and all.  It think it scared her more than anything, and she was fine, but I could not stop laughing as I tried to console her.  Poor kid.  I hope that's not how she remembers Halloween when it comes time to do this again next year.

October 30

We are really getting our money's worth this year out of Caitlin's Halloween costume.  It also doesn't hurt that she LOVES wearing the "ducky".  We had a parade today in our neighborhood.  Caitlin tried to sleep through it, but we woke her up just in time.  I'm glad we did because I think she had a pretty good time, and we loved seeing all the kids in their costumes.  This cute little ducky could have cared less about the other kids there since she had her snack cup, but she was still so stinking cute.  At one point, we asked her where the ducky was and she pointed right at her head.  Such a little smartie.

This girl loves her some bunnies. In case you can't tell, there are 4 bunnies in her arms (2 of her "school" bunnies and 2 "home" bunnies).  We spent a lazy day around the house hanging out with Grandmom and Granddad.

Quack! Quack!  We had the Halloween Parade/Party at Caitlin's school today.  It was so much fun to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes!!

Caitlin was very excited to snack on a piece of bread from our CSA pick-up today.  A lot of my pictures lately are of Caitlin in the highchair or car seat because this is the only way to get her to sit still for them.

Happy 17-month birthday to my messy, funny, smiley, crazy girl!  Yesterday was a sad day for me as it was the 5-year anniversary of my mom's passing, but spending my evening with this girl was just what I needed.

She was showing me the plane in the sky tonight. I love how she is interested in everything lately (even if it's hard to figure out what she's grunting and pointing at sometimes)!

She was trying to delay bedtime by being her cute and funny little self tonight.  I forgot to mention this yesterday, but she had her first real up-close encounter with a very nice (but big) dog, and it scared her half to death.  I've never seen her move so fast.  She survived, but let's just say that we won't be getting a dog at home anytime soon!

She was trying to get the Sunday paper out for Ryan so he could read it this morning.

Notice anything unusual here?  :) She decided that she wanted to walk around the house with my shoes on today.  She did surprisingly well in them.

October 19

Someone fed herself some yogurt from a spoon tonight.  What a mess, but she did a pretty good job. 

October 18

Because the weather was so nice when I picked her up from school today, I decided to take Caitlin to the park.  She is such a big girl, going down slides all by herself.  My favorite thing about this picture is the smile on her face, but the static in her hair is also pretty awesome.

Double fisting again - this time, it was at breakfast, and she was eating a waffle and part of my english muffin.

October 16

We took Caitlin to Gaver Tree Farm in Mt. Airy today, and she loved it!  They have so much for the kids to do there, including 2 big slides.  We all know how much she loves slides!  We spent a good part of our time there going down the slides, and it was so much fun!  We will definitely be going back there next year!

October 15

Today, Caitlin learned how to climb up into the chair.  She'd climb up into the chair, throw her ball (a soft stress relief ball), get down to get it, and then the cycle would start all over again.  She must have done it at least 20-25 times, and she was so proud of herself.

October 14

Right before bedtime tonight, I caught Caitlin climbing in the tray where we keep our shoes to get the video camera (that she is not allowed to play with).  She was not thrilled when I subsequently took it away from her.

October 13

Tonight, we made some "music" with the pots and pans in the kitchen.  This kept her occupied for a whole 5 minutes.

October 12

And for tonight's trick, she decided that Ryan should wear her Halloween trick-or-treat bucket on his head because she also likes to wear it on her head (Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to get that picture tonight).

October 11

She wanted to mow the lawn like Ryan tonight.  She was so proud of herself to be like Daddy.

October 10

It was kind of a rough night at our house tonight.  Caitlin didn't really want to eat dinner, play with her toys, or take a bath tonight.  She basically walked around the house and whined/cried most of the night and wanted me to hold her.  She's fighting a cold, and we also think she's got some teething pain going on.  The 4 canines have popped through, but I'm thinking that they must be bothering her.  Poor kid.  Hope this passes quickly so she'll be back to her normal self soon.  

October 9

We went to a local farm today and picked out pumpkins, went on a hayride, and did the corn maze.  I was trying to get a picture with Caitlin, so I showed her how to rip pieces of the cornstalk off because it kept her still for at least 10 seconds!  Pay no attention to my silly face - I was acting shocked so she'd keep doing it.  Caitlin had a lot of fun doing the corn maze and running all around.  So much fun that she was in bed at least 30 minutes earlier than normal tonight.

October 8

Caitlin and I went to Frederick to hang out with Pop Pop today.  We had breakfast with him at IHOP, and then we went to Baker Park to feed the ducks and walk around.  Caitlin loved watching and feeding the ducks until she held onto her piece of bread a little too long, and one of the ducks got her fingers.  She was fine (no blood or anything) - I think it just scared her a little bit.  All and all it was a wonderful morning with Pop Pop, and Caitlin passed out within 10 minutes of leaving the park (as evidenced below).

 

Caitlin's First Birthday Party

Caitlin,

We celebrated your first birthday as a family on May 26th, but the real party happened on June 4th!  The weather was perfect, and you had a blast with your friends and family!  Surprisingly, you took a long morning nap on the day of your party and then another long afternoon nap right before the party started.  I had to wake you up for your own party!  It was a great day, and we had so much fun celebrating your 1st birthday!  We love you, baby girl!!

Pop Pop tried to give you some beer, but we had to remind him that you weren't old enough.  Maybe in 20 years!

You decided to show everyone how you can walk.  This is really the first time you realized that you could walk more than a few steps at a time.  Everyone was so excited to see you walking!  We loved how you held your hands out in front of you to keep you steady.
