April 22

Putting on her new flip flops.  Last night was kind of a rough night for me and Caitlin - she didn't want to listen or do anything I asked of her.  It was awesome.  We also shared the following interaction about these flip flops that I recently bought for her after she had asked me a few weeks ago for pink flip flops.

Caitlin (whining): But wanted pink flip flops.  Not pink and white flip flops.
Me:  Ok, we can give them to Leah then.  I bet she'd like them.
Caitlin:  says nothing, but shuts herself in the closet.
When she comes out, I'm texting Ryan (because he had a late meeting at work) to tell him what just happened with our little drama queen threenager.
Me:  I'm texting Aunt Alexis to tell her that  have some flip flops for Leah.
Caitlin:  Noooo.  But now I like them.

February 25

Back to reality!  We got home from Grandmom and Granddad's tonight a little after 10, and it took Caitlin until 11pm to fall asleep.  I went in to tuck her in/cover her up, and she immediately woke up and proceeded to have the following conversation with me.
Caitlin:  "Mommy, you have your jammies on?" (I had on a tank top and shorts.)
Me:  "Yes, Caitlin."
Caitlin: "Mommy, you have your boobies on like Cinderella?  You have big boobies, and I have little boobies."

Seriously, where does she get this stuff?!

Conversations with Caitlin 2.15.13

Tonight while we were reading a princess ballerina book:
Caitlin: When I grow up to be a princess, I can dance like them.
Me:  You're going to grow up to be a princess?
Caitlin:  Yes, when I grow up to be Cinderelly, I can dance like them.

Tonight while we were getting ready for bathtime, Caitlin was running around naked, and she found one of my bras from the laundry and put it on.  She runs into the big girl room where Ryan was working.
Caitlin:  Daddy, look!  I have Mommy's boobies on!

Crazy girl loves running up and down the upstairs hallway as fast as she possibly can.  On a side note, I was sitting downstairs doing some work while I listened to her trying to fall asleep tonight, and she started calling for Daddy like something was wrong.  Since he was already in bed because he's still not feeling great, I went upstairs to check on her, and she had Bubby (her bunny lovey) stuffed up her shirt with his head sticking out of the neck of the shirt.  When I asked her what was wrong, she says "I have a baby in my tummy."  Life is never dull with this kid.

Conversations with Caitlin 1.9.13

At dinner last night.
Me:  "Caitlin, please don't play with your cups."
Caitlin: "Do you see Mommy and Daddy playing with their cups?"
(We say this to her when we ask her not to do something to try to show her that we don't do it either.)

We were upstairs in my bedroom, and I was changing out of my work clothes.
Me: "Hold on one sec, I just have to put my socks on."
Caitlin:  "You don't want your feet to be nakey?"

Conversations with Caitlin

This morning
Me:  "Daddy is going to pick you up from school today."  He's been out of town so I've been picking her up, but I wanted to prepare her for the fact that he'd pick her up tonight.

Caitlin: "Oh, ok.  Daddy's going to pick me up?  You going to drop me down?"  (i.e. drop me off) I know they've been working on opposites at school, so I think she figured since down was the opposite of up, that was what I was going to do.  So cute.

Last Night:
I took her to see the trains last night, but a requirement was that she had to eat all her dinner (and she did).  This conversation occurred on the way home from seeing the trains.

Me: "Tomorrow, if you're a good listener and you eat all your dinner, maybe we can watch Charlie Brown's Christmas."

Caitlin:  "Ooooh.  But Mommy, I already ate all my dinner tonight, so I get to watch Charlie Brown!"

And the negotiating stage has begun, folks...

Conversations with Caitlin 10.15.12

This morning when I woke her up for school:
Caitlin: Mommy, my belly hurts.
Me:  Oh no, do you have to go poopy?
Caitlin:  No, my belly is just talking.  It's saying "Feed me, Mommy!".

Conversations with Caitlin 10.2.12

Caitlin:  Where's Daddy?
Me:  Daddy is going potty.  (trying to entice her to pee on the potty) Daddy gets an M&M because he's going pee-pee on the potty.
Caitlin: (Making the oh face because she's excited.) He's gon (gonna) be happy!

Conversations with Caitlin

Caitlin has started saying some really funny things lately, so I'm going try to start writing them down so I don't forget.
Overheard tonight while Caitlin was trying to fall asleep:
"To the moon and back" (I have recently started telling her that I love her to the moon and back.)
"Clean up. Clean up.  Everybody clean up."
Chanting the ABC song.
"Big Bird, stop talking and go night-night!"

I realize this wasn't an actual conversation with her, but I think it is hysterical that she told Big Bird to stop talking and go night-night.
